raise the region

Dear Community Members:

The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP) has announced Raise the Region 2015, an event to help the communities of Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, and Union counties support local nonprofit organizations’ fundraising efforts.  FCFP, in partnership with Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, will be launching a 30-hour online fundraising event starting on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Mark your calendar! On Wednesday, March 11, at 6:00 PM through 11:59 PM on Thursday, March 12, you are encouraged to visit www.raisetheregion.org and select the participating nonprofit(s) of your choice to support, and your gift will be stretched by a generous contribution from Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships.  Your donation(s) can also help raise additional support for the nonprofits selected by qualifying them for monetary prizes.  All gifts are tax deductible and will help make your favorite nonprofit’s mission possible.

Nonprofit participation in Raise the Region is available to all 501c3 organizations in good standing with the IRS that primarily serve one of the following counties: Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, or Union counties.  This year, the Jersey Shore Education Foundation, a 501c3 organization, is participating in the event.

Two Jersey Shore Area School District co-curricular organizations need financial assistance to support our students at the national FBLA and TSA competitions.   The JSASD supports competitions for all organizations to the state level, but students who compete and demonstrate leadership skills at the national level must conduct multiple fundraising activities to support their attendance.  Raise the Region 2015 is an excellent opportunity to support our students in this way and get the additional financial support from the FCCP and Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships.  Your donation to the Foundation may be matched 100%, and is tax deductble.

If you choose to make a donations to FBLA or TSA, please notify the advisors.  The only way the funds will be earmarked for the organizations is through communication with Dolly Oden (FBLA) doden@jsasd.org  or Andrew Baker (TSA) abaker@jsasd.org .  If you choose to make an unrestricted donation to the JS Education Foundation, you may do so as well and no notification is necessary.  The Foundation will use the unrestricted dollars to support a multitude of Jersey Shore Area School District initiatives and scholarships.

This is a wonderful opportunity to support the Jersey Shore Education Foundation and our students.  There will be a Raise the Region link on the JSASD webpage and Facebook page the day of the event.  The link will take you directly to the site where you may make your credit card donation to the Jersey Shore Education Foundation.

I thank you in advance for your generous contributions.

Best

Share the News and Share the Pictures
Share the good news and your photos about the Jersey Shore Area School District and its students, staff, and its communities.  As you can see from our redesigned web site, one of our features will be to promote our school district and our students, its programs and activities, and to provide visitors with a glimpse of what Jersey Shore is all about.  There are rotating pictures on the main page, and we are looking for photos of activities from all schools.  There will be news articles on the main page of each school highlighting the accomplishments of our students and staff and events going on at each school.

On the main page of the Jersey Shore Area School District web site, rotating photos will provide a glimpse of the beauty of our boroughs and townships where we live and work and play.  Please share your photos of the various areas of the Jersey Shore Area School District's beauty in each season!  Students, staff, and community members:  share your news and photos by clicking this link.

Jersey Shore Area School District Performance Profile

1.  to inform the public of school performance
2.   to provide a building level score for educators as part of their evaluation system
3.  to allow the public to compare schools across the state
4.  to give schools a methodology to analyze their strengths and their needs
